Gordon Lee softball team reaches quarterfinals

The softball team of Gordon Lee rode some high pitching as well as advanced to the Class A state playoffs quarterfinals with a couple of easy victories over Charlton County earlier on Wednesday, beating the visitors 8 - 0 and 19 - 0.

Emily Armour had a couple of pitching victories on the mound for Lady Trojans. Emily struck out 7 in 3 innings in the 1st game. After that, he followed that with 9 in 4 innings victory in the 2nd. Megan Wolinsky relieved Emily in both games and included 8 more strikeouts, as Lady Indians were fixed to 2 hits in the 2 games combined.

Lady Trojans got points in each of the 9 innings that they played on Wednesday, jumping out to a 6 run lead following 3 in the 1st game as well as a 7 run lead following 3 in the 2nd.

Dana Mull, the Gordon Lee coach, told Unibet
that pitching has to be the strong point. One could be up and down as far as hitting is concerned, but they have been quite consistent in pitching this season. They really wanted to score in the early innings and build on it, and they were able to do that tonight.

Gordon Lee, who is all set to play Commerce in state fixture in Columbus following week, got 2 strikes apiece from Sara Holcomb and Tiffany Holland in the 1st match. They also gained from some primary jitters by Lady Indians, who did 5 errors in the 1st two innings.
